Application Requirements

DO NOT STAPLE materials.

ALL applicants must complete the following requirements in order to complete the application file.

  1. Application
  2. Pay application fee
  3. Two Original transcripts from each institution attended
  4. Official GRE scores (photocopies will not be accepted)
  5. Required Graduate Documentation Form
  6. At least two recommendation forms (letters may be sent with form but form is required)

International applicants must also complete the following requirements in order to complete the application file:

  1. Official TOEFL score (photocopies will not be accepted)
  2. Application for Visa Document
  3. Financial Information

International applicants currently within the US must also complete the following requirements in order to complete the application file:

  1. Copy of I-20 or DS-1020
  2. Copy of Visa
  3. Copy of Passport
  4. Copy of I-94
  5. Copy of Dependent’s I-94 (If married and/or have children)
  6. Copy of Dependent’s Visa (If married and/or have children)

Applicants must possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution. Students with at least a 3.0 / 4.0 junior / senior grade point average in the major and appropriate course backgrounds may be considered for admission. Some typical features of students admitted is: Jr./Sr. GPA – 3.5 and GRE – 1900 total.

Application Process
  1. After your application has been received you will be notified of all materials that are required in order to complete your application.
  2. Do NOT sent materials that are not requested.
  3. Do NOT staple materials.
  4. As materials arrive you will be notified via email of materials that are still required in order to complete your application.
  5. When all materials are received you will be notified via email that your application is complete and will be reviewed by the Faculty Committee and then other Faculty members. This process will take at least 3 months since our faculty have many other obligations.
  6. When a decision has been made you will be notified via email and a hard copy of the letter will be sent to you.
  7. If you are admitted please respond with your decision by the date indicated on your letter.
  8. International applicants: The dean of Graduate Enrollment Services will notify the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) of your admission, at which time OISS will review your financial guarantee and the required supporting documentation (as specified in the application package). Please be patient, as this office handles visa documents for thousands of students. Your document will be sent via UPS once it has been completed; however, If the financial guarantee has not been met, no document will be prepared.
  9. If you are not admitted you have the option of deferring your application to another semester by emailing gradaero@engr.psu.edu and indicating the semester you would like to defer to.
  10. If your file was not completed by the deadline you will be notified and have the option of deferring to another semester or withdrawing your application.
  11. You may withdraw your application at any time. Please be sure to notify gradaero@engr.psu.edu of your decision.
