The entering M.Eng. / M.S. student must hold a bachelor’s degree in Physical Science, Mathematics, or Engineering, and may be required to complete (without degree credit) undergraduate course work in fundamentals of aerospace engineering, if not already completed. Students with a 3.00 junior-senior average and with appropriate course backgrounds will be considered for admission to the M.Eng. / M.S. program. Exceptions to the minimum 3.00 grade-point average may be made for students with special backgrounds, abilities, and interests. Qualified students may be admitted at the beginning of each semester – January or September.
Satisfactory completion of a master’s program in Physical Science, Mathematics, or Engineering is required for admission to the Ph.D. program.
Submit a Graduate School Application Online through the Gradaute School Admissions and Program Informaiton Portal.
The Graduate Program Staff Assistant will be notified by Graduate Enrollment Services that you have applied and an email will be sent from the Department indicating the materials that are needed to complete your application file within two working days of notification.
You may only apply to one department at a time. If you are not admitted to that department you may contact Graduate Enrollment Services (http://www.gradsch.psu.edu/portal/) and request that your application be reassigned to the department of your choice.
Application deadlines are:
Spring Semester: 31 August
Fall Semester: 31 January
If you do not pay the application fee then your application file is not considered complete and will not be reviewed.
University policy precludes the waiver or deferment of the application fee. If you can not pay the fee personally, a third party (friend or relative) may pay the fee on your behalf. Applications received without the fee cannot be processed.
There is one exception: The Penn State Graduate School offers application fee waivers for members of selected ethnic minority groups, including Native Americans, Hispanics, and Black/African Americans. If you are currently attending Florida A&M, Cheyney University, Lincoln University, or are a McNair scholar, you might also be eligible. Students requesting fee waivers must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. For more information contact the Office of Graduate Educational Equity at ogee@psu.edu.
Application fees are non-refundable
Materials can be sent as you assemble them. Each time application materials are received, you will be notified that either your application is complete, or that outstanding items are still needed before review can begin. When you receive such an email you need only be concerned with the items listed.
The admission committee will evaluate your application package after all of the required materials have been received by the department. Because we also consider the availability of financial aid, it may take several months to complete the review process.
As soon as a decision has been made concerning your application you will be notified via email and a hard copy of the letter will be sent via regular mail.
Please be patient, the review of files takes time.
